I think this is where the discrepancy comes from, and why EZD2 might need these presets, unless one has manually assigned MIDI notes on the module end, which would circumvent the need to select a preset beforehand, but rather, just start EZD2 and play. Now, some Roland modules might keep the positional sensing "judgement" on-board, and therefore will decide itself whether to send 38 (center) or 33 (edge) at that moment of striking snare drum. I picked snare for simplicity, but this is the same story with the hi-hat too. So that it understands to read CC16 (the position midi) with it. Some EZX kits have positional sensing snares that are enabled by sending note 6, and not 38. snare center is (numerically) note 38, but it can also be note 6. I use "None", or rather I should say, I don't touch anything and find out the notes I need by right clicking the instruments and opening the details tab, where it lists articulations next to the MIDI note.Īnother top tip while on topic: hold your cursor over these items and a pop-up will show you additional notes the articulation will be triggered by - i.e. Probably over-thinking it, thoughĬan you explain what you mean by "It's possible to configure your module for click-and-play with EZD2 with no settings change."I believe these settings are under MIDI Mapping, so I imagine that is all it would affect to my knowledge. I was thinking maybe the Roland setting, even if I did re-map a lot of things, allowed EZdrummer to know of certain Roland-specific parameters. Not sure why but to my ears I just gel with the Toontrack samples better. I do use EZDrummer 2 and S2.0 and get great results. I do love the way all the drums and cymbals sound but I can never get a mix I’m happy with using them. "None." If not, then I'll just keep it on "None" and map it all myself. I have all of the GGD expansions except for the P4 kit. What I meant by "more problems" was, do I gain any benefits by starting with the "Roland" selection in the settings vs.
I definitely figured out quickly I had to just re-map via the module.
